Grandma's House Block

I am hoping not to reveal too much, but it looks like this will be my only handmade Mother's Day gift this year.  I was a substitute for 3rd grade yesterday (WOW!) and things were only more crazy around here at bedtime, so I am not going to push it today.  Yes, the over-achiever is backing down today!
Anyway, I saw this cute saying on Pinterest and it is just absolutely PERFECT for my mother-in-law.  She has 25 grandchildren and hosts "Sunday dinner" about every other week.  The cousins play together and they really are each other's best friends.

I realize now that I changed the original saying a little.
I grabbed a scrap piece of 2x4 and sanded it (not very well- it dips in the middle, but I call that "rustic").  I painted it this lovely tan color all over, hand-painted the lettering on, rubbed and distressed it with dark brown paint, and sanded the edges.  I am almost totally happy with how it turned out.

Are you making any handmade gifts for Mother's Day?

Love how that turned out! I saw your ideas you left on my blog (Blogger seemed to eat your comment, though!) and you have made some cute things. We ended up just painting a couple of flower pots...busy week, I guess. :)

Oh that sign is so great you did a good job, as far as home made, well no since mothers day and the 50th birthday party I am having for my husband are on the same day, I might make my mom a special dessert or some candy, she would love that, so I guess I am doing homemade come to think of it!

That is so cute. Such a sweet gift. That is so neat to have so many cousins! We grew up being the only kids on both sides of the family. :)

Wow! It looks awesome! I took photos of my kids and framed them for the grandparents. You can't go wrong with photos of the grandchildren. :)
